57 Cents Story - AN INSPIRATION

I was looking for this STORY I read years back ... praise the LORD for Pastor Jun Cordova who forwarded this to me lately. There is power in GIVING. There is power in INSPIRATION. There is power in INFLUENCE and LEADERSHIP ... even little people can do it!
READ on ...

57 CENTS
A little girl stood near a small church from which she had been turned away because it was "too crowded." "I can't go to Sunday School," she sobbed to the pastor as he walked by. Seeing her shabby, unkempt appearance, the pastor guessed the reason and, taking her by the hand, took her inside and found a place for her in the Sunday school class. The child was so happy that they found room for her, and she went to bed that night thinking of the children who have no place to worship Jesus. Some two years later, this child lay dead in one of the poor tenement buildings. Her parents called for the kindhearted pastor who had befriended their daughter to handle the final arrangements. As her poor little body was being moved, a worn and crumpled red purse was found which seemed to have been rummaged from some trash dump. Inside was found 57 cents and a note, scribbled in childish handwriting, which read: "This is to help build the little church bigger so more children can go to Sunday School. "For two years she had saved for this offering of love. When the pastor tearfully read that note, he knew instantly what he would do. Carrying this note and the cracked, red pocketbook to the pulpit, he told the story of her unselfish love and devotion. He challenged his deacons to get busy and raise enough money for the larger building. But the story does not end there... A newspaper learned of the story and published It. It was read by a wealthy realtor who offered them a parcel of land worth many thousands. When told that the church could not pay so much, he offered to sell it to the little church for 57 cents. Church members made large donations. Checks came from far and wide. Within five years the little girl's gift had increased to $250,000.00--a huge sum for that time (near the turn of the century). Her unselfish love had paid large dividends. When you are in the city of Philadelphia, look up Temple Baptist Church, with a seating capacity of 3,300. And be sure to visit Temple University, where thousands of students are educated. Have a look, too, at the Good Samaritan Hospital and at a Sunday School building which houses hundreds of beautiful children, built so that no child in the area will ever need to be left outside during Sunday school time. In one of the rooms of this building may be seen the picture of the sweet face of the little girl whose 57 cents, so sacrificially saved, made such remarkable history. Alongside of it is a portrait of her kind pastor, Dr. Russell H. Conwell, author of the book, "Acres of Diamonds". This is a true story, which goes to show WHAT GOD CAN DO WITH 57 CENTS.
==== Read this story to your Cell Group this coming ThanksGIVING month ... and see what God can do :-)

MISSIONS from City Harvest Church (Singapore)

Before Jesus ascended into heaven, He gave a charge to all His disciples to take the gospel to the ends of the earth until He would return the second time. With those words, He left the earth and entrusted the work of spreading the gospel to His disciples and to all who would obey Him.
The work of missions started early in the life of City Harvest Church (CHC), with short-term mission trips being planned each year. However, only a small part of the church was involved and it was mostly the Bible school students who were being exposed to mission work. But God had bigger plans for this church.
In early 2000, City Harvest Church received a mandate to take the gospel of Jesus Christ to the nations of Asia and beyond. This call required everyone in the church to take a step of faith into the unknown with an eight-month mission project that would eventually result in thousands of souls being added into the kingdom. With this word, the church rallied together in a united effort through much prayer, fasting, personal involvement as part of the mission team, and preparation for God’s miracles to take place.
This project materialized between October 2003 and May 2004 and City Harvest Church rejoiced at the fruit of their labor. Altogether, CHC sent out a total of 1,663 members into the mission field and touched more than 280,002 lives. In addition, a total of 103,683 souls were added into the kingdom of God in just seven months and one week! Today, CHC is sending out more and more teams to various parts of Asia to minister the Word of God to people everywhere with healing, signs and wonders following.
One way that the work of God is being extended is through the nine branch churches that CHC has planted across Malaysia, Indonesia, India and Singapore. Most of the senior pastors in these churches have been trained and equipped in City Harvest Bible Training Center. Upon their graduation, they returned to their country and helped to pioneer a great work that, till today, is still seeing many results. These growing congregations also embrace the same commitment and vision in preaching the gospel to all mankind and reaping the end-time harvest of souls that was promised to those who would obey.
In City Harvest Church, we firmly believe that every member in our congregation can be spiritually prepared and ready to serve as a co-laborer for God in these last days for missions. Just as our Lord Jesus has given the Great Commission for us to follow, we will continue to “go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.”

HOLYWIN Month at YX

Last Night (FRIDAY) was a blast! More than 120 young people came to our YX Youth Fellowship Night. Guests from TFI (Tabernacle of Faith Church) came to share a special song number. It's good to know that the harvest is possible with other youth groups within the city.
The CALLING CARD above has been made ready ... to invite students from different colleges and universities and high schools in Bacolod City. October will be spent with Video Clips and a preaching from the Word of God. Pray for me ... I will be sharing about "LIFE AFTER DEATH" next week. It's good to remind our KIDS that ETERNITY is REAL ... and that they have to prepare for it.
Why not invite or bring a STUDENT this Friday for YX Nights!

It's MISSIONS Month at HIS LIFE Central

What if this HAPPENS?
Start your Christian IMAGINATION working with the PRAYER of JABEZ in place ... Remember the prayer of JABEZ?

1 Chronicles 4:9 (NIV)
9 Jabez was more honorable than his brothers. His mother had named him Jabez, {9 Jabez sounds like the Hebrew for pain.} saying, "I gave birth to him in pain."
10 Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, "Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain." And God granted his request.

HIS LIFE
MISSIONS Month:
BRINGING His Life Beyond Borders

Bringing His Life Beyond Borders
Takes Prayer and Expectation

“Pray that the Master's Word will simply take off and race through the country to a groundswell of response.” 2 Thessalonians 3:1 (Message)

Bringing His Life Beyond Borders
Takes Retelling of that Old Fashion Story

“He said to them, “It is written that the Christ would suffer and rise from the dead on the third day and that a change of hearts and lives and forgiveness of sins would be preached in his name to all nations, starting at Jerusalem”
Luke 24:46-47

Bringing His Life Beyond Borders
Takes Power From Above

“But when the Holy Spirit comes to you, you will receive power. You will be my witnesses — in Jerusalem, in all of Judea, in Samaria and in every part of the world.” Acts 1:8

Trina TURNS 2

The birthday of TRINA was last September 20. We enjoyed (Joshua, Mama Trixie, Trina and Elmo) eating our lunch at the newly renovated McDonalds in Bacolod City. We feasted over sppagetti, hamburger, chicken and fries. But Trina in her excitedment ate only 5 pieces of fries. Josh enjoyed his oreo cake dessert at the McCafe shop (the 1st outside Metro Manila), while I had my cafe latte there too.
After bringing Josh back to school, Trina, Trixie and I went to Gaisano for some kiddie games and play. She also tried out the computer at Netopia where I spent a few minutes checking my email. She also went to an arcade just to hear the sounds and see the sights of people dancing, singing and playing. Her day culminated by opening YOYOs xylophone gift (see picture above) ... it was a great day! The Lord's DAY ... brining us Trina TWO years AGO :-)
Thanks to Titos Ranty and Faith for the TREAT ... mmmmmm :-)

A TRIP with Bunchie and Josh

I make it a point to date the kids individually. Trina and me ... Josh and me ... but in these pictures it was Trix and Josh and me ... the first two pics on top were taken just last week as we sped to the closes piers we have in Bacolod City. We saw SuperFerry 2 being prepared to leave that night going to either Manila or Cagayan (I did not ask). We had a great time here ... we bought a number of pork barbeques and some bread and drinks ... brought it near the edge of the pier and started to have our afternoon snack. Enjoy gid di si Josh and Trix. The picture below was during our evening dessert at Jollibee ... you notice Josh lost already his front tooth ... he is now a big boy ready to learn more about life and enjoy it ... may he grow up to be a a Man of God.

Going to MARKET

Here we are EARLY in the morning tagging along with MAMA Trixie ... finding the best ingredients for her LUMPIA ... this happens 3 times a week. Not with Trina all the time though. Usually Trixie goes inside the marketplace while I read and read and meditate in a local coffee shop outside 'Burgos'. This has been a thing that I learned and is enjoying after I got married to Trix. I did not go to market before ... NOW, I look forward to it. Trina seems to be enjoying too. Wheres MANONG? He has been brought to School already.
